In Central Appalachia, poor oral health affects people of all ages. Many young adults and even teens face severe decay caused by poverty, limited access to care, poor nutrition, and chronic illness. For far too many, tooth extraction becomes the only option for relief.
Before the Health Wagon established a permanent dental clinic, our outreach teams extracted more than 60,000 teeth over 20 years—a heartbreaking reflection of the unmet need in our region. Today, with your support, we’re changing that story—restoring smiles instead of removing them.
